Course Content summary:
At
this level candidates will be introduced to the key concepts of obstetric and
gynecological sonography. This approach will encourage the candidate to build
on and integrate their knowledge about transabdominal and transvaginal scan. It
combines both theory and practical part and will help the students start performing
ultrasound imaging under supervision.
Objectives:
At the end of the course each candidate will be able
to:

Apply knowledge and understanding of the anatomy of the pelvic floor
and the effect of the ultrasound scan machine on the human body
·
Recognize the parts of the ultrasound machine, it’s physics and how
does it work
·
Demonstrate proper patient communication skills when preparing the
patient for ultrasound, through the scan and after finishing the exam
·
Conduct an analysis for the clinic environment “ergonomics” to promote
maximum safety to both patient and doctor
·
Identify the common abnormalities that can be diagnosed by ultrasound
scan and how to interpret if found
·
Conduct transabdominal and transvaginal scan under supervision of
senior sonographer
·
Determine the correct vessels for Doppler studies, when to use each and
how to corelate their findings according to the medical background of the
patient
·
Give evidence of commitment in continuous learning and professional
development
